    The Week Ahead
    Worldwide
    April 30, 2007
This week, the month of April will come to a close and May will be upon us.  Expect a flurry of activity. Here is what to look for:

  • The May 2007 Ty product announcements on Ty.com
  •
  • The introduction of the May 2007 Beanie Baby of the Month and silent retirement of Palace the April 2007 Beanie Baby of the Month.
  •
  • The May 2007 Desktop Wallpaper (assuming that Ty is on time this month).
  •
Also, we can anticipate the following introductions sometime this month:

  • Possibly, a new Ty Store exclusive (perhaps as early as this week).  The theme could be related to Father's Day, graduation day, or a wedding.
  •
  • May 2007.  Monarch (bear).  Reported to be a San Francisco Zoo exclusive.  Pre-orders were accepted this month.  Shipments are scheduled during June 2007.
  •
  • May 8, 2007.  The California Angels' Rally Monkey
  •
  • May 26, 2007.  The Cornwall, England exclusive bear.  (The bear's name has not been officially confirmed).
  •
Finally, there may be a surprise or two that will surface.  What will it be?  We will know in the days and weeks to come!

New Picture of the Rally Monkey Posted
    Anaheim, California, USA
    April 30, 2007
In my April 8, 2007 column, I posted news from Pinky in California about the California Angels' exclusive plush toy, the Rally Monkey Ty Beanie Baby.

  • The original picture showed the face and upper torso of the beanie ( which resembles Mooch ).  The team's name, Angels, can be seen on its chest.  A solid red hang tag is attached to its ear.
  •
  • The new picture shows the complete beanie (including its legs).  A 14th generation (2006) Ty hang tag attached to the beanie's left ear can now be seen.

From the Email Bag -- More About Horses, Ty Classics, and Stashmatic.com
    New Jersey, USA
    April 30, 2007
Jennifer (aka Patty Buddy) read yesterday's post, More About Ty's Beanie Horses, and sent me two emails. Not only did she write about my list, but she shared her latest efforts to create a Ty Classic database. The main points of her emails follow.

  • Opal and Whinnie were left off of the Ty Classic list.  Both styles have since been added.
  •
  • Whinnie is an older Ty Plush Classic horse that is often overlooked because it is not posted on Ty.com. Jennifer discovered the plush toy ( style number 8006 ) from an old Checkerbee guide.  A link to this brown and white horse ( click here ) can be found in the Stashmatic.com database.
  •
  • Jennifer has finished updating the Ty Plush Classics database with the information she had available.  She welcomes others to help her by joining Stashmatic.com, filling in missing information, and uploading pictures. She writes (slightly edited):
  •
[P]eople can help contribute by... uploading pictures [of missing Classics]. If they click on specific item listings, there's a box that will say help the community/add a pic or something like that.  They will be prompted to browse their computer files.  Pictures must be in either JPEG or GIF form. The size limit to upload an individual image is 500 MB. They recommend setting your camera to its lowest resolution for pictures.

Bean Watcher comment:  Thank you for sharing your email with us.  Let's hope that you will receive the help you are seeking.

    April 28, 2007
Tracy from the UK shares that the Ty Classic, Digby, can be purchased online again. More information can be found below.

  • Digby, a Harrods UK exclusive, was officially introduced on November 4, 2006 (click here).
  •
  • John from the UK (the phoenix) previously reported that Digby was limited to 2,000 pieces.  (See my November 13, 2006 article.  Click here to view the November 2006 archives ).
  •
  • Tracy recently wrote (slightly edited):
  •
I was sent an email today from Harrods.  Whenever I get an email, I always go straight to the soft toys. Imagine my surprise when I saw... a picture of Digby.  I know when I ordered mine in November, Harrods said this was a limited bear and only one per customer.  It is now selling online in the Ty Department.

Digby is selling online for £12.95 (GBP). To place an order, follow this path:  Harrods.com  > Toys  > Soft Toys  > Ty  > Ty Digby

Next Beatrix Potter Trio Delayed Again
    England, UK
    April 26, 2007
Nancy from the USA shares that, according to the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, the introduction of the next (third) Beatrix Potter trio will be delayed until July 2007.  Here is additional information about the unannounced set.

  • On January 18, 2007, I posted news from Chris, the retail manager at the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, that the names of the next trio were said to be Benjamin Bunny, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, and Squirrel Nutkin.  The attraction's online store, Heroes-Shop.com, was to offer the gold-thread version and the standard-thread version of all three styles during March 2007.
  •
  • Heroes-Shop.com has now posted a moving message, stating TY BEANIE BABIES -- 3RD SET IN SERIES UNFORTUNTATELY DELAYED UNTIL JULY ... MORE INFORMATION WILL FOLLOW ...  In case the announcement is changed or removed, you can view a screen shot of part of the message (click here).
  •
So, if you have been waiting since January 2007 to add the latest trio to your collection, you will have to wait a few months more....  Be patient.  The wait will be worth it!

  •
  • The plush toy has Mary Beth's Bean Bag Extravaganza with Britannia Bear Fairs embroidered on its chest. The bear also has a hang tag with the same words printed on it.  Click here to see a picture.
